I can't say I knew Mark well. I came to Newquay to preach at the church a couple of times, and he was there each time, I think, with a warmth of smile and welcome which he even managed to put into the formalities of reading the church notices.
I heard him once, outside the vestry door where we were praying, that distinctive voice, just routinely giving some words of encouragement to whoever it was. Without his knowing, those words have encouraged me, to this day.
Thank you, Father, for even those few memories of Mark; he was a blessing to me, in ways he did not realise.
